Moyer, Mary

Moyer--On the 1st inst., Mary Moyer, wife of Amos Moyer, aged 84 years, 3 months and 27 days. The relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock from her residence, ??? south Fourth Street. Services in the First Reformed church, interment at Charles Evans Cemetery.

Two Funerals To-day

The funeral of Miss Louisa Blessing was largely attended this morning from the residence of her parents, 933 Buttonwood street. The cortege proceeded to St. Paul's Catholic church where Rev. Father Borneman officiated. The remains reposed in a walnut casket and were attired in a white shroud. Interment took place in the Catholic cemetery. Felix & Son, undertakers. The floral tributes were very numerous and included a broken anchor surmounted by a dove, harps, sickles, crosses, lilies, &c.

The remains of Amos Moyer, 116 South 4th street, were interred at Charles Evans this afternoon. Services were held in the First Reformed church by Rev. Henry Mosser. The remains reposed in a walnut casket and were attired in a black suit. The bearers were 4 grandchildren, Amos Seitzinger, John M. Roland, Amos Arthur, and Henry A. Roland. E.S. Miller undertaker. Friends were present from Philadelphia and Pottsville.

Death of an Old Citizen

Amos Moyer, one of the oldest citizens of Reading, died at his residence, 116 South 4th Street, yesterday afternoon of dropsy and old age. He had been ailing for several years and was confined to bed at intervals. Deceased was in the 88th year of his age, resided for many years in the house in which he died and was a life-long resident of this city. Mr. Moyer was a carpet weaver by trade, and through his business became widely known through this and other counties. He was a devout Christian and consistent member of the First Reformed church, and was highly esteemed and honored by the community. Five children--Mrs. Henry Seitzinger, Mrs. Henry Roland, the wife of City Treasurer John E. Arthur, William P. Moyer, resident of this city and Henry Moyer of Philadelphia, survive. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren also survive. His wife died about two years ago.
