The Intelligencer

Alvin W. Buehler, a resident of Chalfont for the past 42 years, passed away at his residence, "The Farm," Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, after a courageous battle against a brain tumor. He was 68.

Married on May 18, 1968, Al was the beloved husband of Marjorie L. Buehler.

Born in Philadelphia, Al was a son of the late Walter and Caroline Buehler and was raised on the Buehler Dairy Farm, Willow Grove.

Al was a 1960 graduate of Upper Moreland High School.

Retiring in 1991, Al was employed with PECO for 33 years where he was known as "Bear."

He was later brought back by PECO to teach gas pipe welding to younger employees. Al then worked with Fellman's Complete Pool Services of Chalfont until his illness prevented him from continuing to work.

Al was proud to have served with the National Guard.

Al's life centered on hard work, his family and he loved his dogs. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and antique cars, especially Corvettes. Al also enjoyed spending time in Ocean City, N.J., the Thousand Islands and traveling to Florida with his RV. A true handyman, Al could fix anything. Nothing was trash because it could always be fixed.

In addition to his wife, Al is survived by his two loving daughters, Kimberly L. Sehlin and her husband, Darrell, of Doylestown and Suzanne J. Shelly and her husband, Steven, of Warrington. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Emilie, Anna, Greg and Ben; and his dear brother, Donald and his wife, Beth Anne, of Hatfield.

The family would like to express their thanks to all who loved and supported Al over the past year. He will be greatly missed.

Al's funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Road, Warrington. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the North Shore Animal League America, 25 Davis Ave., Port Washington, NY 11050, www.animalleague.org.
