There he served as president and vice-president of the International Association of Machinists Union until his retirement in 1982.

After his retirement, Tom achieved a goal he had for many years and opened up Sterling Shoe Repair on Oakland Avenue in Doylestown which he operated for 10 years.

Looking forward to retirement, he and his wife, Betty, moved to Homosassa, where he enjoyed fishing both in fresh and salt water and hunting.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was also a member of Doylestown American Legion and the Masonic Lodge in Homosassa.
