Elizabeth M. "Betty" Madara of Doylestown died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Manor Care, Lansdale. She was 82.
Born in Abington, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Rapp Thomas.
Betty graduated from Hatboro High School and had been a resident of Doylestown for most of her life.
She was employed by Crane Co. (a division of Chem Pump) as a data processor for many years.
Mrs. Madara was a longtime active member of Doylestown Moose Lodge 1284, and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are two sons, Warren "Skip" Smith and his wife, Elaine, of Benton, Pa., and Thomas Smith and his wife, Anna, of Stillwater, Pa.; two daughters, Eileen M. Kline and her husband, Bill, of Hatboro, and Kathy Lewis and her husband, George, of Quakertown; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery.
